A couple’s lifestyle photoshoot turns in to an engagement session with a twist.
When I first met Monika and Sean Havens, I was immediately struck by the love they show for one another by their true, deep connection. Shortly after arriving at the chosen location, the couple asked me if everything was set up to start photographing. I had metered the light and a flash was in place, but normally the beginning of a session is quite relaxed I take the opportunity to make the clients feel comfortable and establish a connection with them. As a Portrait Photographer I need to help people relax and feel at ease with the photo session. In this instance, before I knew what was happening, Sean and Monika were in front of the camera and Sean had dropped to one knee with a small box in his hand! Clearly and emotional moment, tears of joy appeared in Monika’s eyes. “Wow, I was not expecting an engagement session today… aren’t they already married?”, I thought. I was thinking this would be a beautiful couple’s lifestyle photoshoot, but not with this surprise!
After I rushed around trying to capture this beautiful and surprising moment , I finally understood what was happening. Sean had presented an upgraded ring to Monika and although they are already married this did not diminish the emotions in any way. The expression of surprise and joy on Monika’s face was so genuine and very similar to a newly engaged person. I could really feel myself capturing true love during this Couple’s Photoshoot and in challenging times such as these, I savored every moment. I hope you can too with the selection of images below. The iconic Las Vegas Strip backdrop made for a perfect place for Sean and Monika, since they are both Las Vegas born and raised, real locals.
Thanks to Monika and Sean for letting me being a part of their joyful “re-engagement” and for showing true love.
